WU Yan
- Professor, Director of the Composition Department at Xi'an Conservatory of Music
Professor Yan Wu, Chair of the Composition Department at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music, serves as a graduate advisor and as the Deputy Secretary General of the Creative Committee of the Chinese National Orchestra and Strings Association. She is also an expert in undergraduate education teaching assessment for the Ministry of Education and was a visiting scholar at the University of Missouri in the United States on a ministry-sponsored program. Professor Wu has been recognized as one of "100 Young Artists in Shaanxi Province" and "100 Young Talents in Xi'an City." She is a key member of the national first-class major "Composition and Composition Technology Theory," the provincial-level Huang Daonian-style teaching team, and the "Shaanxi Sanqin Scholar" innovation team. Professor Wu has received awards including "National First-class Undergraduate Course," "First Prize of Shaanxi Province for Higher Education Teaching Achievements," "National Art Fund Support Project," and "Shaanxi Province Art Creation Communication and Promotion Support Project."
Professor Wu has participated in the creation of the large-scale ethnic orchestral work Zhongzhou, which was awarded the "2020-2021 Annual Symphony of the Era" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She has collaborated with renowned conductors Zhang Guoyong and Tan Lihua, performing multiple times at the National Art Center and Beijing Zhongshan Music Hall. Her works such as Lanhuahua for ethnic orchestra, FeiTian Suixiang for guzheng, and Yun and Jasmine for chamber music have won government awards. Many of her works have been published and performed widely in various countries and regions around the world, including at the Beijing Modern Music Festival, the Chinese Ethnic Music Festival, the ASEAN Music Week, the Sino-Korean Friendship Modern Music Festival, and the UMKC composers' forum in the United States.
