CHEN Musheng composer, Professor and vice director of the composition and conducting department at the SHCM. Today he is consid.ered as one of the most remgrkable Chinese composers of his generation, Chen Musheng had an upbringing under the inflvence of botieastern and western cultures. lnspired by the traditional Chinese kungu opera, The Peony Pavilion, he wrote a symphonic tone poem ADream in the Peony Carden. The piece had its premiere in 2007 in the Berlin Concert Hall performed by the Chinese-German YouthSymphony Orchestra under the baton of Tang Muhai. Subsequently it had also been performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, theHamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and the shanghai Phiharmonic in Europe and China and receivedhigh acclaims. His some scores publish by the Alphonse Leduc Editions in Paris.
