Born in Changchun city, Jlin Province, Xu Shuye, graduated in the Department of Composition and Conducting of Shanghai Conservatoryof Music in 1983, and then a Doctorate of Composition in the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in 1994.
Xu's compositions, won the first prize at the Alexander Tcherepnin Foundation Composition Competition. first prize at the 5th BesanconInternational symphony Composition Competition with his symphony "sunset & Crystal!", Taiyi ll won the second prize at the 21th BourgesInternational Electronic Music Composition Competition in France, the second prize at the 15th Luizi Russolo lnternational Electronic MusicComposition Competition in ltaly.
Xu was the president of $hanghai Conservatory of Music from 2009 to 2014. At present, Xu is professor of composition and electronicmusic and doctoral supervisor in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, as well as the Chairman of Shanghai Musician Association and theDirector of Shanghai Spring International Music Festival Arts Council.Xu's many commissions of composition and his works be played including Wien Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National deFrance, Gavenburg Symphony Orchestra of Sweden, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, New York Phiharmonic, SaintPetersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Opera de Marseille, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai phiharmonic Orchestra, China National Opera House, Shanghai Opera House, Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble interContemporainKlaugforum, Ensemble Contrechamp, Ensemble 2e2m, tineraire, Nieuw Ensemble, etc. His score is released by Henry Lemoine & JoberiPublisher in Paris.
