Guo received a doctorate of composition from the Tokyo University of the Arts and is currentlya professor at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He has composed solo pieces, chambermusic, traditional Chinese instrumental music, symphonic music, and more. He has receivedprizes domestically and internationally including the following: “Best Orchestration” prize inthe “Chinese Music Without Bounds” 2017 international Composition Competition held byHongkong Chinese Orchestra; finalist in the 2nd Krzysztof Penderecki International Compos.ers' Competition 2014, Poland; merit prize in the 1ith and 15th Tokyo lnternaional Competitions for Chamber Music Composition, Japan,honorable mention in the "Witold Lutosawski Award 2004" intemational Composers Competition,Poland. His works have been selectecfor many music festivals such as lSCM World New Music Days 2013 held in Slovakia and Vienna, lsCM World New Music Days 2017held in Vancouver, Canada and iSCM World New Music Days 2020 held in New Zealand. He attaches importance to the state of anacoustic event before and after it emerges as well as its instantaneous explosion and disappearance. He constantly seeks out andemphasizes the simplest way to express through lines and timbres.
