Introduction to the work
A reminiscence is a remembrance or an evocation of the past, it is a term used to describe the retrieval of memories or thoughts that have been dormant and suddenly return. This idea of recovering information from the past serves as the central inspiration in the creation of the work and thus, throughout it, it is possible to appreciate how different elements that happened in the past are suddenly present again. Sometimes, these evocations are presented in a very subtle way, through different textures, colors and densities. On other occasions, they emerge in a very noticeable way through different passages inspired by contrapuntal works, such as imitations, canons and strettos, thus representing the evocation of the most immediate memory. And at other times, by combining past elements with new material—somewhat playing with the limits of the idea—but always with the intention of generating the sensation of having heard something that already happened, either in a different, varied or even diffuse way, in order to maintain the idea of recovering memories of the past, just like a reminiscence.
